Characteristics and Efficacy:

• Broad-spectrum bactericide
• Effective bactericidal performance at very low addition levels
• Formaldehyde-free preservative
• Good stability across different systems, within a pH range (2~12) and temperature range
• Water-soluble product, easy to incorporate into cosmetic formulations

• Excellent compatibility with cationic, anionic, and nonionic surfactants; however, its antibacterial performance may be reduced when in contact with amines, sulfhydryl compounds, thioethers, and sulfites (esters)

• Preservative efficacy is not affected by proteins or protein hydrolysates in the formulation
• Recommended usage level of 0.05%~0.1% for safe use
• Excellent environmental profile: rapidly degrades without accumulating in organisms and does not persist in normal environments, meeting environmental requirements

Usage Recommendations      

• The recommended usage level for Kathon preservative is 0.01%~0.1%.
•   Kathon preservative should be added as the last ingredient in the formulation, preferably at temperatures ≤50°C. Due to the wide variation in ingredients and formulations of personal care products, which may affect the efficacy of the preservative, we strongly recommend verifying the efficacy and stability of Kathon preservative before production.
